Background & Experience

Rick Davis, who previously served as Executive Director of Cummings Research Park from 2003-2011 for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, has been appointed as Executive Director for Research Park Properties for NAI Chase Commercial.  Prior to joining NAI/Chase Commercial, Davis was the Chief Operating Officer of the Baron Critical Weather Institute, a 501(c)(3) founded in 2018 to create a high-density network of weather sensors and web cams throughout Alabama. Since returning to Huntsville from Birmingham Davis was also associated with Averbuch Realty, one of the community’s oldest real estate firms, since December of 2019.

In 2011 Davis joined the Birmingham Business Alliance as Senior Vice President for Economic Development, a position he held until January 2019.

In his eight-year tenure as CRP Director, Davis managed the sale of more than 480 acres of CRP’s 900 acres available for development. Those companies that purchased property in the park also represent more than 5.2 million square feet of office, research, and manufacturing space and more than 52 new construction or expansion starts. The relevant capital investment during this period is more than $1.2 billion.

Prior to joining the Chamber of Commerce, Davis was Director of Communications for Teledyne Brown Engineering, a premier aerospace and defense contractor in Huntsville. Teledyne Brown is widely recognized as the first “high-tech” company in Huntsville, tracing its roots back to 1953.

Before his employment with Teledyne Brown, Davis spent numerous years in a range of responsibilities in mass media, including sportscasting in radio, television, college football and basketball, and professional baseball (Class AA Huntsville Stars), and sports writing and business writing for The Huntsville Times. Davis was recognized with multiple awards for his work during his time in the media, including being awarded a Special Achievement Award for his media work by the Huntsville/Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame.
